After our tour of the Lingzhi Technology Park and Yung Kien Plant, we were offered Q&A opportunities with various experts, including Dr Chen Deng-Hai. Here are a sample of some questions and responses..


Q. Some manufacturers promote "cracked spores" as a premium product and sometimes even more valuable than fruiting body or mycelium. What is your view?


A. Cracking the shell doesn't guarantee that the spore powder is pure, potent or standardised. Many cracked spore products do not disclose the percentage of triterpenoids, beta-glucan or whether they contain any fillers. "Cracked spores" is often a marketing term, often used without chemical analysis or quality proof.


Q. Why do YKK and YKS taste different?


A. YKK is in powder form while YKS is in tablet form. The different form results in different taste, as something need to be added to the tablets to shape them. Also, the surface exposure of the tongue to powder is higher than tablets. So you may feel YKK is more bitter than YKS. But in actual fact, both contain the same effective constituents. YKK/S is the only strain from YK-02. All the others are manufactured from YK-01 strain.


Q. Why include Lactoberry when taking Lingzhi?


A. Because Lingzhi is absorbed in the GI tract. Lactoberry help cleanse the GI tract and make it healthier. This helps increase the absorption rate and effectiveness of Lingzhi.

 Lingzhi has to undergo before reaching the consumers

This marks my 5th visit to Shuang Hor's Lingzhi Biotechnology Greenhouse Park and Yung Kien Factory. My last visit was 10 years ago. The feeling is different yet familiar. This time, when I stepped into the Greenhouse Park and Factory, I still remember and recognise many areas but I also noticed many changes and additions. 


Same


What remain the same are:


> Everything in the premise is still as neat and clean as ever, including the chairs, floor and toilets.

> The management and staff are still as friendly, kind and helpful as ever.

> The hospitality is still as warm as ever, from welcoming us with a cup of tea and a smile when we arrived, to waving goodbye to our bus when we left.


Different


> Each time there was something different to see and something new to experience. We got the opportunity to enter inside the Greenhouse and walk among the Lingzhi. Another time, we could enter the Factory floor area. In this trip we finally get to see the Target Lingzhi area.


> I noticed changes and updates in the signboards hanging in the Park, to include the 5 new Greenhouses constructed since my last visit. In the Museum in the Factory, new exhibits were added to reflect the inclusion of Target Lingzhi.


> I would say the most exciting and significant difference in this trip is finally being allowed to tour the area where the Equivalent Target Lingzhi is manufactured. It was initially kept very confidential. We were told it's only opened for viewing this year. I was so excited to be the privileged first batch of visitors to witness with my own eyes this special area. 


My feelings


I feel secure in the knowledge that Shuang Hor produces everything with the utmost care and therefore, all the products are guaranteed to be safe and effective, and can be used for a wide range of health problems. So I have the confidence to continue sharing this solution with friends and people in need.


There is indeed a feeling of pride and belonging to be part of this company which upholds ethics and integrity. It gives me a lot of assurance that I have made the right decision to choose Shuang Hor Lingzhi as my "doctor".  As we age, our body become weaker. When we fall sick, it's harder and takes longer to recover. So taking care of health (instead of treating diseases when they befall us) becomes more and more important so we can continue to lead an active life after retirement.

During my 5th visit to Yung Kien Factory in Tainan, Taiwan, we were first shown a short video prior to the guided site visit. Below is a transcript and screenshots of the video.

During my 5th visit to Doublecrane Lingzhi Biotechnology Park (greenhouse farm) in Tainan, Taiwan, we were first shown a short video prior to the guided site visit. Below is a transcript and screenshots of the video.



Lingzhi has been termed as a top medicine and can promote longevity and consolidate body base. The Doublecrane group is a global leader in Lingzhi biotechnology, and has been focused on Lingzhi researches to explore the medical efficacies of Lingzhi for more than 30 years.


Baihe District, Tainan City

We choose to establish the Doublecrane Lingzhi Biotechnology Park in the Baihe region of Tainan because of the region's pleasant weather and fresh air. The amicable environment allows for the best Lingzhi to be harvested. Spanning over 5 hectares, the Park is home to the world's first Lingzhi incubation center. With an Experimental Greenhouse and 12 computer-controlled greenhouses, Doublecrane is able to supply the global Lingzhi market with premium raw materials.

The 2 biggest difficulties in Lingzhi research are species R&D and cultivation management. Out of the over 200 species of Lingzhi in the world, fewer than 20 can be used as raw materials. In other words, the strain is the key to determine the efficacy of Lingzhi.


Furthermore, R&D, reproduction and cultivation of various species, are core to Lingzhi biotechnology. After many years of reproduction and R&D, as well as DNA analysis, medium testing and experimental greenhouse cultivation, we have selected strains with the most potential to cultivate in our greenhouses.


By observing different stages of growth, and through many trials and errors, we have identified the best conditions for Lingzhi growth. These results are used as important indicators in Lingzhi mass cultivation. This is also a very important step in the quality control of the Lingzhi spawn.

After strains have been chosen, the next step is to set up the proposal for mass production. First of all, every step of the inoculation process must be completely bacteria-free to avoid contamination.

Exclusive: The Whole Process of Lingzhi from Farm to Mouth (with updates in 2025)

I have visited Shuang Hor's Farm and Factory in Taiwan 4 times. We were hosted by Dr Chen Deng-Hai who showed us around the huge premises and obliged us with many hours of Q&A sessions which help us understand better on how Lingzhi is created right from the R&D stage all the way to the final products that we can safely put into our mouth.

I am going to share with you the entire process in this post.

Before the start of the tour, Dr Chen gave us a short briefing on the history and background, touching on why we migrate to cultivation of Lingzhi in greenhouses now and the 2 important factors to cultivate high quality Lingzhi.

Mr Lin Shih Chin is the son of the late Mr Lin Shen Chang (one of the original founders of Shuang Hor) and oversees the business in Malaysia, Singapore, Myanmar, Indonesia and Brunei. He gave us a briefing which includes the positioning of Shuang Hor as a manufacturer of healthfood products, the various accreditations accorded to its products, the different types of quality control inspections and many other invaluable information to help us understand the company and business better.

2016 Visit to Shuang Hor Greenhouse Farm and Factory

I just returned from my 4th visit to Shuang Hor company's Farm and Factory. As always, the company without fail provides kind hospitality to first time visitors and warmly welcomes back the familiar faces.

Despite already being regarded as the world leader in terms of Lingzhi, Shuang Hor continues to look for ways to improve the quality of its Lingzhi, research new uses for Lingzhi and upgrade the cultivation and factory production processes.

There are 2 key things that strike me in this visit:

(a) The greenhouses have expanded

In 2014, we were shown a big vacant piece of land next to the existing 7 greenhouses. Dr Chen said more greenhouses will be built here in future. During this visit, the land has transformed into a huge group of fully-functioning greenhouses called Area 3. It occupies 7,400 sqm and has 5 greenhouses. Each of them has a capacity of 200,000-255,000 sawdust packaging bags and can be controlled independently.


(b) The Lingzhi harvests have expanded

In the past, the harvested and dried Lingzhi were stored in bags and mostly stacked neatly on the racks inside the warehouse. This time, I saw so many Lingzhi bags that they are stacked all the way up to the roof of the warehouse and many bags overflowed onto the floor and more spilled out into an adjoining room housing the Lingzhi Dryers.


This means the demand for Lingzhi is higher than ever now. Perhaps people are more conscious of their health and taking Lingzhi as prevention. Perhaps more people are falling sick. Perhaps people are looking for alternative ways to treat their diseases as they become more educated on the danger of taking the wrong drugs and side effects of medicines. Whatever it is, they choose Shuang Hor as their solution.

Exclusive: 2014 Q&A Session with Dr Chen Deng Hai

I had the privilege to visit Shuang Hor's Lingzhi Biotechnology Park and Yung Kien Factory recently. Dr Chen Deng-Hai very kindly showed us around, and further obliged us with a 2-hour Q&A session, where many questions were asked. We acquired a lot of new knowledge on how to use Lingzhi to handle many diseases such as hepatitis, thalassemia, stroke, psoriasis, TB, cancer, blood clot, epilepsy and so on.

Dr Chen is a highly qualified doctor in the area of Lingzhi / Ganoderma research as he holds a Master degree and PhD degree in Organic Chemistry. He also holds many positions, including Vice President of the Department of Bio-tech and Medical Development, General Manager of Biotechnology Park and Director of Microbiological Research Foundation. He has also published many research reports.

I share below some of the newfound knowledge I learnt and do my best to convey the information as accurately as I can (taken from my recordings and notes).


Hepatitis B Carrier

The HBV (hepatitis B virus) and HCV virus reside inside the liver cells. If the host (patient) has low immune system and therefore can't protect the liver cells, the virus will eat the liver cells and develop and generate more virus. A clean liver cell has a lifespan of about 1 year. If a virus infects that clean liver cell, this infected liver cell will still live up to 1 year. If in this 1 year, this infected cell can't be eliminated by our immune cells, then it will generate more virus.

What can Lingzhi do? 

(a) It helps newborn liver cells to generate faster i.e. can grow more new liver cells at a faster rate to replace those killed by the virus.
(b) As the immune system becomes stronger, they can protect the clean liver cells from virus damage.
(c) Immune cells can recognise infected cells and kill them to prevent further spreading of the virus.

So during this period of taking Lingzhi and Lingzhi is doing its job of helping the immune cells kill the infected liver cells, the GPT and GOT level will go higher, as the infected cells are our liver cells and when the liver cells are being killed by immune cells, it generates more GPT and GOT. So for some patients who take Lingzhi to protect their liver, sometimes the GOT and GPT go higher during this transition period. Don't worry, it's a good sign, It means the immune cells are doing their job to kill the infected ones. If this patient takes Lingzhi for 1 year, in theory, there will be no more infected cells. But in reality, our immune system is like a wave/cycle, sometimes stronger, sometimes lower, due to our lifestyle or negative emotions like feeling depressed.

If the patient wants to take Lingzhi to kill the HBV or HCV, he needs to take for at least 1 year.
Take 16 capsules Yung Kien Ganoderma (YK1), up to 20 YK1 a day. The higher the dosage, the shorter the cure period.

In reality, there's no drugs that can kill HBV and HCV. But based on Dr Chen's experience, there's data to show there are more 20 persons who have been cured from HBV and HCV after taking Lingzhi. The good news is they will not be infected again for the rest of their lives.

Dr Chen says there is no hope with western medication - the person will still be a hepatitis virus carrier. But if he takes high dosage of Lingzhi for long-term, there is hope he will become "clean".

2014 Shuang Hor's Taiwan Greenhouse Farms and Factory

I have just returned from a trip to Taiwan organised by Shuang Hor company. The main objective is to provide an opportunity for us to see with our own eyes and evaluate for ourselves whether the representations by the company are indeed accurate.

For the consumers, they can develop more confidence in the safety and effectiveness of all Shuang Hor's products, regardless whether they are taking to maintain their health, protect their body organs or to handle serious illnesses and diseases. For the business leaders who are partnering with Shuang Hor, they can reinforce their belief that they have made the right choice - Shuang Hor is a genuine business opportunity, has a long-term vision and a transparent marketing plan that works, together with a solid management team who have integrity and promote positive values.

Friends from 4 countries (Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Myanmar) gathered together to tour Shuang Hor's Greenhouse Farms and Factory. We were very privileged to be hosted by Dr Chen Deng-Hai himself. This very busy man is a PhD doctor and a world authority figure on Lingzhi. He is a key figure in spearheading Lingzhi research for many decades and has published many papers on this subject.

This is my third visit. Each time I go, there are always new developments to see. The company has a new R&D Centre now, the scientific knowledge continues to improve with new products launched, there is advancement in technology, the number of greenhouses has expanded, the number of precision equipments and laboratory apparatus have also increased - all to accommodate the ever growing demand of existing and new markets.
