Uniqueness of Shuang Hor Lingzhi (Part 3 - Enhance Liver Function & Antioxidant)

This is a continuation of the articles posted last 2 weeks on what makes Shuang Hor Lingzhi so unique, as compared to the other lingzhi and healthfood in the market.

Functions of liver

(a) Liver is the biggest detoxifier in the body.
All kinds of toxins, bacteria, old and dead cells will be converted by the liver to non-toxic substances and sent to the kidney / large intestines to be passed out as urine / stools. If the toxins cannot be expelled through proper channels, they will be forced out through the skin, face, ear, mouth, belly button etc thereby causing allergies, pimples, ulcers and pus discharge.

(b) Nutrient fabrication factory.
Nutrients from the food we eat need to be converted before the body can utilise them e.g. protein become amino acid, carbo become glucose, fat become fatty acid.
The small intestines absorb these nutrients, the liver will synthesise it to become components which can be utilised by the body (like glycogen, fats and protein).

(c) Storage of vitamins A, B12 and D and iron mineral.
If the liver function is bad, you will be deficient in these nutrients. For example, such a person may be anaemic because his liver cannot store iron.

(d) Clotting factor, platelet enzyme and bile manufacturing centre.
Platelet enzyme is the enzyme that produces platelets. Together with the clotting factor, they prevent internal bleeding and non-stop bleeding. Bile is produced by the liver, which is stored in the gallbladder.

(e) Control cholesterol and triglyceride.
The readings of these 2 components will be high when the liver is damaged. Food which are deep-fried, fatty and oily are bad for the liver because the liver needs a lot of energy to detox and pass them out of the body system.

There are more than 500 chemical reactions going on in the liver.
Some symptoms of weakening liver include fatigue, low energy, bad breath, bitter taste in the mouth, nausea / vomit, jaundice (yellowish palm / eyes), bruise /bleeding and dark colour urine.

Damaged liver cells can turn into Cirrhosis, then Hardening and eventually Cancer.
- Hepatitis A, B, D, E and K are at the stage of Damaged liver.
- Hepatitis C is during the Cirrhosis stage.
- High GOT / GPT readings are generally detected just before the Cirrhosis stage.

What is fatty liver?
It is when the liver cells can no longer flush out fats from the body. The fats accumulate around the liver. It is the stage before Cirrhosis. A common symptom is the appearance of yellow patches in the eye.

Causes of liver damage include:
- Food
- Emotion
- Lifestyle e.g. sleeping late or too much alcohol
- Bacteria / virus
- Blood transfusion.
