Bits & Bites #23 - Health: Ms Jamie Chen's Seminar on GoEco

Sunday 17 November 2013

This post is part of a weekly series sharing Bits of mishmash on health, my business and life in general, which I find inspirational, enlightening or enriching.
And Bites of delicious food I have enjoyed.

Butterfly Effect basically means an insignificant occurrence in one place could lead to a serious (seemingly unrelated) impact in another location later.
For example, a butterfly flapping its wings in Brazil can lead to a tornado in Texas a few weeks later.
Or if you choose the wrong household product to use now, it could result in your child suffering from kidney failure in future.

Why do farmers use so much pesticides and herbicides in growing strawberries?
It stems from the demands by consumers - we demand for perfect fruits which look big and beautiful and taste sweet. Hence the farmers satisfy our needs by using chemical fertilisers to give us what we want.

The honeybee population is disappearing rapidly in recent years, possibly due to excessive use of agricultural pesticides.
This decline poses a major threat to the global agriculture and our future. Because the disappearance of bees will lead to non-pollination of plants; and soon, there will be less grains, fruits and vegetables to feed us.

GoEco Liquid Detergent and GoEco All Purpose Cleaner are eco-friendly enzymes that can breakdown oily residues effectively without adding on any harmful substances. Regular use will help to reduce pollution and assist in the cleaning of rivers and streams.

A common ingredient used in the formulation of laundry detergents is optical brighteners. They enhance the appearance of colour on fabric by causing a "whitening" effect and fooling you into thinking your clothes are clean. Optical brighteners are harmful and can cause allergic skin reaction in some people.
