Allergic rhinitis is an allergic inflammation of the nasal airways. It's one of the most common forms of allergies. The 3 common symptoms are:
  • sneezing
  • nasal blockage
  • mucus discharge.
Sinusitis is an inflammation of the lining of the sinuses. It's also referred to as rhinosinusitis, because inflammation of the sinuses (pockets of air in the cavities of the face) nearly always occurs simultaneously with inflammation of the nose (rhinitis).

To complicate matters, viral or bacterial infections can set in, worsening existing symptoms. People with sinusitis often experience difficulty breathing, facial congestion, pain, headaches, ear aches and problems with sleep.

As the nose and lungs belong to "one airway", inflammatory processes occurring in the nose, if left untreated, can eventually affect the lungs.

Treatment Options

The majority of treatment options available target the relief of allergy symptoms. Medications such a antihistamines and nasal steroid sprays are commonly used. Leukotriene inhibitors such as montelukast are also popular, but patients should be aware of adverse reactions (including neuropsychiatric side effects) linked to the use of montelukast.

Although drug treatment are helpful in managing allergies, these drugs are not able to prevent an allergic reaction from happening, nor are they able to address the root cause of an oversensitive immune system.

A Better Option?

Take a look at Ganoderma / Lingzhi. Researchers in Taiwan have discovered an alternative way of dealing with allergic conditions. The results were published in the Ganoderma Bulletin Issue July 2004. Click on this link to read the full article,

Not only can Lingzhi alleviate the symptoms of allergy, Lingzhi is able to effectively perform these 2 important functions:

1) Inhibit allergic reaction, by inhibiting the stimulus on mastocytes and effectively reducing the release of histamines, thus reducing inflammation from happening.

2) Normalise the immune system, by inhibiting the production of IgE (antibody) and strengthening the development of Th1 (white blood cells). This is important as Th1 being high keeps Th2 in check, hence reducing the occurrence of allergic reaction.

Shuang Hor Lingzhi can be safely taken without any side effects.
